Afghan Students in Moscow (2021-2022)

Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in summer 2021, horrific news of executions and reprisals has been regularly reported. Afghanistan is closed off from the world, and Afghans who were abroad when the Taliban won have been abandoned to their fate, without government or family support. Among them, there are students who had come to study in Russia. As of the end of 2021, there were 1,441 of them. They have found themselves in poverty due to the inability to find decent jobs, but they are also unable to return to their homeland, where they face persecution and even death.
